چکیده

Epoxy resins have been widely used in commercial applications, and their adverse health effects have been mostly reported in occupational settings. The most frequent adverse effects are irritation or allergic mechanisms involving the dermal and respiratory systems. Sensitization is usually caused by low molecular weight or short-chain compounds. We report here two workers exposed to an epoxy resin and a newly developed epoxy hardener, alkylamine, who developed severe dermatitis. The chemicals were used as components of asphalt. We identified the epoxy hardener as the causative material in the dermatitis by a patch test.

Occupational contact dermatitis caused by 1,3-benzenedimethanamine, N-(2-phenylethyl) derivatives in hardeners for epoxy paints and coatings.

BACKGROUND Amines in epoxy hardeners are significant causes of occupational allergic contact dermatitis among workers who use epoxy resin systems. OBJECTIVES To describe a novel group of contact allergens: N-(2-phenylethyl) derivatives of the reactive amine 1,3-benzenedimethanamine (1,3-BDMA). METHODS We describe the clinical examinations and exposure of 6 patients with occupational contact...

Occupational dermatoses from one-component epoxy coatings containing a modified polyamine hardener.

In an electronics plant, 2 one-component epoxy coatings containing a modified polyamine hardener were used as covering materials for protecting important information on police radio circuit boards. The resinous parts of the coatings consisted of epoxy resins based on diglycidyl ether of bisphenol F. The hardener was a dimethylaminopropylamine (DMAPA)-epoxy adduct and contained about 0.16% free ...

Occupational dermatitis from a one-component naphthalene type epoxy adhesive.

In an electronics plant, a new one-component naphthalene type epoxy resin was used as an adhesive for reinforcing a circuit board. The resinous part of the adhesive consisted of diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A (DGEBA) and 1,6-bis(2,3-epoxypropoxy)naphthalene type epoxy resins. The hardener was methylhexahydrophthalic anhydride (MHHPA). Of 54 workers, 15 (27.8%) were diagnosed to have work-relat...

Occupational contact dermatitis caused by aniline epoxy resins in the aircraft industry.

BACKGROUND Tetraglycidyl-4,4'-methylenedianiline (TGMDA) is an aniline epoxy resin used in, for example, resin systems of pre-impregnated composite materials (prepregs) of the aircraft industry. Allergic contact dermatitis caused by TGMDA in prepregs has been described previously. OBJECTIVES To report on 9 patients with occupational allergic contact dermatitis caused by TGMDA in epoxy glues u...

Occupational allergic contact dermatitis caused by epoxy chemicals: occupations, sensitizing products, and diagnosis.

BACKGROUND Epoxy products are among the most common causes of occupational allergic contact dermatitis. Diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A resin (DGEBA-R) is the most important sensitizer in epoxy systems. OBJECTIVES To describe patients with occupational allergic contact dermatitis caused by epoxy products. METHODS Patients with allergic reactions to epoxy chemicals were chosen from test file...
